Founded in 1979, Dancing Thru Pregnancy is committed to the development of women-centered health fitness programs that allow women to achieve their optimal well-being.
As a provider of education and training for group fitness instructors, personal trainers, exercise physiologists, health care providers, movement and physical therapists, and allied health professionals, DTP aims to help individuals, facilities and institutions bring safe, effective, state of the art programs to as many women as possible.
DTP offers 2 levels of education and training--one for those seeking professional and academic education, or who plan to design their own programs (The Basic Pre/postnatal Seminar) and another for those who wish to teach official DTP programs at their facility or instituion by becoming a Licensee of DTP, Inc.
Official DTP programs include:
Pre-Fit, a pre-pregnancy fitness program for women who are considering a pregnancy, and who understand the importance of regular, moderate exercise and a healthy lifestyle as a preparation for a healthy pregnancy.
Dancing Thru Pregnancy® (DTP) is a continuous fitness and well-being program based on principles of dance, mind/body skills, cardio, core strength and group support. It is specifically designed to enhance the pregnancy, ease discomforts, and provide skills for labor and birth.
AfterDance (AD) with StrollerDance is a workout and nurture program designed for the postpartum woman and her baby. It focuses on re-shaping the body, cardiovascular fitness, strength and re-alignment, as well as providing an opportunity for mom to participate positively with her baby in a group setting.
Moving Thru Life (MTL) is a program of health and fitness activities for menopausal and post-menopausal women.
These are unique programs. Right from the start the approach has been to create something totally new, designed solely for prenatal/postpartum and midlife. Rather than simply modify existing types of exercise, we teach our instructors to approach the class as a choreographic challenge, to create shared movement experiences that are meaningful and dynamic for their clients. Using an integrative approach to the many physical, mental, emotional and social challenges at these important times in women's life cycles, DTP offers an innovative path to health and fitness for women and their offspring.
